Our Story

Tacsay Miller Farm began with the idea of raising and processing our own food.  In addition, we wanted to be good stewards of the land God has blessed us with.  As we began researching and learning more, we became driven to start producing a quality product from our farm where our clients could meet us and interact with the farm. Through this we believe that not only will people have healthier food but they will also be able to learn more about how food is produced.

Vern is a veteran paramedic who has served over 25 years. Through serving these many years in EMS, Vern witnessed the necessity of eating a good food which is provided through pasture raised animals, the way they are supposed to be raised. Additionally, Vern comes from a multi-generational farming family wherein, he witnessed directly the stress that chickens are placed under in the commercial model of raising chickens and eggs. Through this experience, Vern is inspired to raise animals in a respectful manner which encourages lower levels of cortisol and healthier meat. When he read Salatin’s book, Folks This Ain’t Normal, and other works he started learning about why we see the downward progression of the health of our society and what can be done to correct our current path. This stemmed into fulfilling lifelong dreams of farming and producing food for not only his family but also for the community at large. Although we are new to farming, we believe that if we hold true to the principles taught by Joel Salatin and other regenerative farmers then our produce will enhance not only our lives but also the lives of our clients.

Nitri was originally born and raised in the Philippines. As she started learning from Joel Salatin and other regenerative farmers, she learned that the issues facing the American families could be mitigated through pasture raised meat and delicious fruits and vegetables being raised from her garden. After reading Salatin’s book on pastured poultry, Pasture Poultry Profits, she knew she found the spark for the business she’s always dreamed of.

In addition to providing delicious and nutritious food, we actively seek to involve our entire family in the farm’s operations including our young children. We involve our family in chores, collecting eggs, and enjoying the beautiful nature around us. Through this, we believe in raising our family in accordance with the Bible as well as teaching the value of hard work.

Our farm is located in Akron, Colorado about two hours Northeast of the Denver Metro area. With this we are able to provide pasture raised poultry and eggs to clients that live within the front range all the way to Northern Colorado. Our family operates a small-scale farm on 40 acres and we utilize sustainable farming practices in order to provide delicious food for our clients. Our food is best enjoyed by picking up your farm processed pastured poultry on processing day.
